| Brandon Mudd is in his sixth year of hosting the SpeedZone. He started on the show with Tony Hubert in 2003 as a co-host of what was then St. Louis Motorsports Weekly and quickly became the producer of the show as well, taking on the responsibilities of booking guests, providing stats for the show, and writing and producing the show's imaging. While on the SpeedZone, Brandon started working with MB Motorsports, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series team based in Foristell, Mo., that started the careers of such drivers as Justin Allgaier, Jamie McMurray, and Carl Edwards. Brandon spent 2004 travelling with the team, acting as the publicist for driver Chris Wimmer. In 2005, Brandon started getting work nationally, writing freelance NASCAR stories for the Sporting News, as well as working with PRN's Mark Garrow. Brandon was soon extensively covering what was then the NASCAR Busch Series as well as the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. During this time, Brandon was getting more and more experience and his name was becoming more well-known in the media centers and garages at tracks all over the country. A fateful meeting with Lenny Batycki at Nashville set the wheels in motion for what would become Brandon's dream job. Batycki was at that time the VP for Biagi-DenBeste Racing, but would leave there to take the reigns at Gateway International Raceway. A couple months later, Brandon and Lenny met to discuss Brandon becoming one of the track announcers for the NASCAR events at GIR. One thing led to another and Brandon was hired. Not as an announcer, but as the PR director for the track. With everything going Brandon's way, the final piece of the puzzle was his return to 590 the Fan in 2008 after the SpeedZone went on a one-year hiatus. The show is stronger than ever, airing each Saturday at 9 a.m. with the best guests and commentary as well as a renewed focus on the local racing scene in addition to the NASCAR/NHRA/open-wheel coverage you expect from the SpeedZone. In January of 2009, Brandon was recognized for his work on the SpeedZone by the St. Louis Auto Racing Fan Club. He was awarded the 2008 Outstanding Media Award at the 42nd Annual Banquet of Champions. Making the honor more special was the fact it was given to him by his daughter, Cassidy.
